New things to look forward to!

Hello All,

My name is Andrew from somaSUPPORT and I’ve been working on somaICE for about 6 months now and here is a just a couple new things to look forward to!

If you haven’t already been you will very soon be updated, we have been working very hard to get everyone onto the newest version of somaICE. From there we can ensure that all of your somaICE installations work as well as possible and we can add regular updates to your site each Friday to bring it up to the latest version that will bring with it new bug fixes or new features.

We have a lot of features we are working on, most of them have to do with the somaICE blog functionality. Also a new feature we are adding is the “Audio Player Module.” With this module you will be able to upload an audio file (more details on supported audio formats still to come) and embed an audio player right in your page!

We have also done a couple bug fixes and little features that include:

  • Clickable Blog titles in the blog listings. These will allow visitors to your blog click the title of the post and be redirected so they may read more.
  • Font colour change in the back end navigation tabs. You may have noticed that the sub navigation tabs in the back end had a font colour of white, and this was very hard to read. Now we have changed this font to black.

Here is a preview list of what we have cooking for your future somaICE.

  • UTF-8 support as well as other foreign characters.
  • The ability to tag blog posts.
  • Top comments widget.
  • An update to include Google Maps.
  • HTML 5 support.
  • Full iPad, iPhone, Blackberry, Android support.
  • The ability to assign posts to more than one category.
  • And many many more!

Every day the somaTEAM is working really hard to make somaICE super nice!

Will there be an additional update in the future to provide a Bing Maps plugin. There are a lot of features in the works that will make for a better experience to users of the site.

Hi Cory, Thank you for asking about Bing Maps. somaICE has built-in support for Google Maps which allows them to paste the map on a page, add their address, etc. We've seen a lot of success for clients using this on their contact pages. What advantages does Bing Maps offer over Google Maps that would offer our clients better service?
