The First 30 Days
Big Changes, Big Effects
Normally, the first 30 days of any new position is the period when you're learning the ropes of how things are done on a day-to-day basis. You'll learn who to talk to when you need a certain task completed, and how long you can expect that work to take before you see results. Basic things. Like how the company functions and what the processes are.
For myself, I had worked with soma for a number of months previously, so I had a good understanding of where opportunities existed to make things even better. I set to work on these opportunities the first day.
A number of things were already working very well before I arrived. Things like our world-class logo and branding somaCREATIVE design team or our print advertisement work and somaICE Content Management System. Clients were enjoying high-quality and timely design work from the somaTEAM.
A few other areas needed some tightening up, including our client relations process and reducing response delays for support requests. Both of these items were at the very top of my focus list for the first 30 days and I'm happy to announce that both have been resolved.
We have taken the time to listen to our clients' needs and provided them with direct, easy access to somaSUPPORT team members. Requests that come in receive a response in a timely fashion and are handled professionally throughout.
Increased Visibility
We are very lucky to be located in Canada's high-tech headquarters. We're taking advantage of the networking opportunities in the Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo area and increasing our exposure to industry leaders through great events like DemoCampGuelph. We're also helping out the local technology community by sponsoring free open-source project hosting for Guelph Coffee and Code.

The someICE website platform is an amazing tool for organizations to help with their marketing plans. Fully integrated with social media and built-in visitor metrics, it levels the playing field for any not-for-profit or company to connect with their customers.
We've greatly simplified our offerings to make it even easier for clients to find a somaICE package that meets their needs. The Next 30 Days
We're doing some great things here at soma. But the next best thing to doing something great is to let people know you're doing something great. So, in the next 30 days, our goal is to continue to increase the visibility of soma by being actively involved in helping our communities, both directly and through providing solid marketing ROI for the organizations we work with.
