John Rockefeller named new CEO of soma
Injects youth and vision into 21st-century marketing firm
29 March 2010
Waterloo Regions’ own soma Ontario Marketing Agency is about to step into an exciting new phase of growth. They announced today they have selected John R. Rockefeller of Guelph, Ontario, as Chief Executive Officer.
“John brings the passion, experience and technical know-how that will direct soma into a revitalized path of success,” says co-founder and Chief Creative officer Jennifer Davies. “He has that sparkling combination of youth and leadership we have been looking for since we founded the company.”
Rockefeller will focus on improving soma’s customer service, operations, and market expansion. “Today is a special day,” says Erich, former Technical Adviser and Visionary. “I consider John a guru of web development and emerging technology, and am proud to have him join our team.”
Full service marketing firm with a local spin
“The feeling is mutual,” returns Rockefeller. “What soma is doing is exactly what I envisioned ever since I first started working on computers in high school. soma is not only a market leader: they are, in my opinion, one of Canada’s sleeping giants. They have an unparalleled depth of knowledge about web technology, and know how to get it working for the bottom line of any organization.
“soma offers world-class sophistication to companies who want to outsource their marketing and business management. They know how to deliver the full spectrum of services with remarkable efficiency. They help small businesses achieve top results by maximizing cost-effective tools and media.”
Content management system with rave reviews
Integrated with their holistic array of marketing solutions is soma’s trademark web content management system (CMS), somaICE. With somaICE, non-technical users can make changes to their company website and track website visitors, eliminating cost associated with external web maintenance.
“somaICE goes far beyond other CMS’s,” says Rockefeller. “I call it business in a box. It delivers robust statistical metrics that Marketing Directors use to drive new revenues and Operations Directors use to minimize expenses. With somaICE, a start-up or community organization can access the same sophisticated technology that a multi-national firm pays millions for. A city’s BIA, for example, can access an everyday tool as smart as the one used by Rogers or Bell, for a fraction of the price.
“It levels the playing field,” says Rockefeller, “and it’s one of the ways soma is changing the landscape of this industry.”
Environmental stewards with charity client base
“I’m also proud to say that soma is not just about helping businesses succeed,” says Rockefeller. “We want to make the world a better place. We promote sustainable solutions and local self-sufficiency. We help companies and organizations who share our vision of a better planet. We show them how to minimize paper consumption and become more diligent stewards of their resources. We donate services to charities and local organizations such as Goodwill, United Way, and Rotary International. We raise money for Breast Cancer Research, local hospices, and Community Foundations.”
Continues Rockefeller: “I believe in soma. This is what I was born to do.”
